But things didn't always go THIS easy...
In April 2006, my daughter, Bianca, was born, and I decided to cut down on the amount of time I was working in the office and instead work from home to spend time with her.
Heading into the office before the sun came up and leaving when it was dark seemed like a bad tradeoff - I'd rather spend more time with my wife and daughter. But at the same time, I wasn't quite ready to take a major paycut just because I worked from home, instead of the office.
I decided to look at work-at-home opportunities that would allow me to generate a decent income and spend time with my family. I spent weeks looking for the perfect business to run from my home. After reading about people who made a full time living from their blogging efforts, I decided to give blogging a try. It looked like the perfect online business.

Were They Right?
Blogging looked like a surefire winner. Just write a bunch of clever and funny stuff on a website and you will see crowds fighting each other tooth-and-nail to head over to your blog, right?
I set up my first blog at Blogspot.com and spent about an hour each day writing and publishing blog posts. I was expecting my bank account to be overflowing with cash faster than you could say "show me the money!"
I could not be more wrong. I made a grand total of $20 over 3 months. And this could have come from friends who've visited the site and clicked on the ads...
What a TOTAL failure...
Had I made a mistake? Did this internet stuff work?
I'm not one to give up though, so I spent the next couple of months, reading up, testing various methods of generating traffic and income, and spoke to a number of experienced bloggers to find out what made them successful.
What I discovered surprised me...
